    • Polydactyle (6-toed) cats that live on the Hemingway property
    • All carry the gene, and about half exhibit the physical trait
    • Ernest Hemingway was given a 6-toed cat by a ship's captain and since Key West is relatively isolated most cats are probably related to the original cat
    • Other breeds also exhibit this trait
